About the Job

The manufacturing engineering team at Pivotal is seeking an experienced and motivated manufacturing engineer to join our team. In this position, you will be an integral part of the team and will be mainly focused on the creation of manufacturing processes and their implementation for Blackfly and Helix production.

Responsibilities

  • Design and development of manufacturing processes for both Blackfly and Helix aircraft: structural assembly, final assembly, electronics manufacturing processes meeting production requirements/volumes while adhering to quality, cost, and manufacturing constraints
  • Design assembly fixtures, jigs or other templates required for the above manufacturing processes
  • Create detailed manufacturing work instructions for use in production
  • Collaborate with suppliers and external partners to source parts, define material specifications, and oversee the manufacturing processes, ensuring quality, consistency, and timely delivery
  • Interact with engineering teams to provide design for manufacturing and design for cost inputs
  • Use of PLM and ERP tools on a daily basis to review and release documents and interface with production/inventory/etc
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in manufacturing techniques and industry trends, and apply this knowledge to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the manufacturing team at Pivotal
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
  • 3 years experience in manufacturing, preferably within the aerospace industry
  • Strong knowledge of composite structural assembly, and final assembly processes required.
  • Knowledge of composite part manufacturing, electronics assembly desired.
  • Proficiency with both PLM and ERP systems
  • Familiarity with manufacturing process definition, work instruction creation
  • Design for manufacturing and design for Cost processes
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically, analyze complex issues, and develop innovative solutions
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate and present technical information to diverse stakeholders
Bonus Qualifications
  • Familiarity with aviation regulations and certification processes, such as FAA or EASA
  • Experience with eVTOL or other electric aircraft
  • Master's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field
